# AI interview prep for your next interview

Practice answering interview questions before the real conversation.

Resumeon builds a mock interview from your resume, your target role, and the job description. You answer ten questions out loud, one at a time, and get a score out of 100 with feedback on every answer.

- Spoken questions and spoken answers
- Scored out of 100, every question too
- 10 to 15 minutes end to end

## Your resume becomes the interview

The interviewer starts from what you have already told it, so the questions are about your work rather than a generic list anyone could have been asked.

- **Your resume**: Questions are built from your actual roles, tools, projects, achievements, and dates. Expect to be asked about the specific claims on the page, which is what a real interviewer does with it.
- **Your target role**: Name the position you are preparing for and the questions move toward it, rather than staying anchored to the last job you held.
- **Your job description**: Paste the posting and the interviewer gets the same context you have about what this employer says it wants.
- **Your difficulty level**: Choose Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, or Executive. The level changes both the questions you get and the standard your answers are graded against.

## From setup to scored report

The whole thing takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Setup takes under a minute.

1. **Choose your resume** Pick the resume you want to practice with. The interview is built from whatever is on it, so use the one you are actually sending out.
2. **Add the role** Enter your target job title, and paste the job description if you have one. Both are optional and both make the questions sharper.
3. **Start the interview** The AI interviewer asks ten questions, one at a time, out loud. You hear each question rather than reading it.
4. **Answer out loud** Speak your answer naturally into your microphone. It is transcribed and passed on, and then the next question comes.
5. **Review your results** When the last answer is in, your overall score, the four component scores, and the per-question feedback are ready.

## Four difficulty levels

Pick the level that matches the interview you are preparing for. Each one changes the mix of questions and how strictly the answers are graded.

- **Beginner**: Foundational and mostly behavioral, with technical probes kept conceptual. Graded on an encouraging bar that rewards clarity and potential, which suits early-career preparation.
- **Intermediate**: Weighted toward deep dives on your actual experience, probing the specific claims on your resume. Graded against a solid mid-level bar: competence, relevant examples, clear structure.
- **Advanced**: Trade-offs, technical depth, and system design, with follow-up framing that does not let a vague answer stand. Graded strictly: quantified impact and tight structure are expected, and vagueness is penalized.
- **Executive**: Strategy, vision, people and org leadership, stakeholders, and business impact rather than hands-on detail. Graded against an executive bar, the highest standard of the four.

## Your interview, scored out of 100

The session gets one overall score, and four components showing where that score came from.

- **Role fit**: How closely your answers matched the target role and the difficulty level you chose. A strong answer aimed at the wrong seniority still costs you here.
- **Content**: The substance of what you said: real examples, decisions you made, and numbers where numbers exist. This is where a confident answer with nothing specific in it gets found out.
- **Delivery**: How clearly you communicated. Scored from your spoken answer, which is the part you cannot rehearse by reading notes.
- **Coverage**: How much of your resume the interview actually got through, and whether you answered the question you were asked rather than the one you wanted.

> Every one of the ten questions is also scored on its own, so you can see which specific answers let you down instead of getting one number for the whole session.

## Feedback you can act on

The report turns the session into a list of things to work on.

- **Overall performance**: Your score out of 100 with the four component scores behind it, so a low number always comes with a reason.
- **Question-level feedback**: Each question carries its own score, what worked in your answer, and what would have made it stronger.
- **A model answer**: Every question comes with a brief example of a strong answer, so you can see the shape you were aiming for instead of guessing.
- **Strengths and gaps**: The parts of your answers that landed, and the ones that were unclear, unspecific, or unstructured, collected across the whole session.
- **Progress over time**: Sessions are saved to your account, so you can run the interview again after working on the gaps and see whether the score moved.

## Why practice out loud

Knowing what you want to say is not the same as being able to say it clearly while someone waits for you to finish.

- Getting to the point faster
- Explaining your experience without rehearsing it in your head first
- Reaching for a specific example instead of a general claim
- Structuring a long answer so it still has a shape at the end
- Speaking with less hesitation under mild pressure

The goal is not to memorize perfect answers. Memorized answers are easy to hear, and they fall apart the moment the follow-up question is not the one you prepared for.

The goal is to get better at explaining your actual experience when someone asks you about it.

## Our approach to AI interview practice

The feature is built around your real job search rather than a question bank.

- **Practice with your experience**: Your resume is the starting point for the questions, so the session is about your work and not a set of prompts anyone could have received.
- **Prepare for the role**: Your target role and the job description give the interviewer the same context you have about the opportunity.
- **Measure the practice**: The overall score and the per-question feedback exist so you can tell whether a second attempt was better, rather than just feeling that it was.
- **Know what the score is not**: It is a practice measure, not a prediction. Employers run different hiring processes, and no score here can tell you what one of them will decide.

## Frequently asked questions

### How long does an AI mock interview take?

About 10 to 15 minutes across ten questions, and setup takes under a minute. The pace is yours: each question waits for you to finish answering before the next one arrives.

### Where do the interview questions come from?

They are generated from your resume, so they ask about your actual roles, projects, and claims. Adding a target role or pasting a job description shifts the questions toward that opportunity.

### Do I have to speak my answers?

Yes. Questions are asked out loud and you answer out loud, because speaking is the part that is hard to practice on your own. Delivery is scored as its own component for the same reason.

### Do I need a microphone?

Yes. The interview is spoken in both directions, so you need a working microphone and your browser's permission to use it. Headphones help but are not required.

### How is the AI interview scored?

One overall score out of 100, built from four components: role fit, content, delivery, and coverage. Each of the ten questions also gets its own score, along with what worked and what would have made the answer stronger.

### Is AI interview prep free?

One complete mock interview with the full report is free, and it is the whole feature rather than a trimmed version of it. Pro is $9 per month, or $69 per year as a one-time charge that never auto-renews, and it removes the limit.

### Can I practice for a specific job?

Yes. Add the target role and paste the job description during setup, and the questions move toward what that posting is asking for.

### Does it work for non-technical roles?

Yes. The questions come from your resume and your target role, so a marketing, operations, finance, or design interview is built the same way a technical one is. The Executive level in particular is about strategy, leadership, and stakeholders rather than hands-on work.

### What if I give a bad answer?

The interview continues to the next question, and the report tells you afterwards what was missing. That is the point of practicing somewhere the answer does not count.
