## What this does, and what it deliberately does not

Most cover letter tools generate the content for you. This one does the opposite: it handles the structure so you can concentrate on the two or three things only you can say.

- **Your words, kept intact**: The points you write become the middle of the letter exactly as you typed them. Nothing is rephrased and nothing is invented, so you will never find yourself defending a claim in an interview that a tool made up for you.
- **The format handled for you**: Sender block, date, recipient, greeting, body, and sign-off in the order a business letter expects. Getting this wrong is one of the few things in an application that reads as careless rather than inexperienced.
- **A sensible greeting either way**: Enter a hiring manager and it addresses them directly. Leave it blank and you get "Dear Hiring Team", which reads far better than "To Whom It May Concern" and does not pretend to know something you do not.
- **An opening that states the point**: The first line names the role, the company, and where you saw it. Recruiters often handle several openings at once, and a letter that does not say which job it is for creates work for the reader immediately.
- **Two or three points, not five**: The form gives you three boxes on purpose. A cover letter that runs past one page stops being read, and the discipline of choosing your strongest examples is most of the work.

## How to write the middle bit

1. **Lead with your closest match** Point one should be the single strongest thing you have done that maps onto their main requirement. Put a number in it if you honestly can.
2. **Cover a different angle second** Point two should not repeat point one. Pick a requirement from the posting that your first example did not touch.
3. **Say why them, briefly** One honest sentence about this company specifically. If you cannot write one that is actually true, leave the box empty. An obviously generic compliment is worse than no compliment.
